Loop was designed to inspire, in children, an interest and curiosity in architecture. Commissioned by a AMOA as part of Art on the Green, an artist and architect- designed mini golf course, Loop’s elliptical green offers the user the possibility of infinite play.
This gently ramping putting green path loops in on itself so that the location of the tee and the hole are one. Miss the hole and you are back at the beginning to try again. The wrapping exterior screen wall is a habitable space creating a passageway for easily fetching errant golfballs.
The walls are constructed entirely of uncut 2x4’s: a very common and ubiquitous building material. They will be reused once the exhibition is over. 3½-inch spiraling block members tie the wall together and form a cylindrical shape. The warping wall plays with light and shadow, transforming everyday materials into an ethereal and ever-changing structure.
