A single wall walnut cabinet, strategically inserted into the space between kitchen and bedroom, solved several design problems. As a cabinet, the walnut built-in contains kitchen storage and a tidy home office on the kitchen side. Bedroom cabinets are nested neatly on the other side. This cabinet also acts as a thick wall creating a transitional buffer space between the private bedroom and public kitchen, and adding both privacy and noise reduction in addition to the storage on both sides. Transitional spaces are as important as the rooms themselves.
