South 2nd

South 2nd is an 800-square-foot vertical addition to a 1960s ranch house, containing ground-floor offices and a second-floor bedroom suite connected through a link adjacent to the existing fireplace. The addition's small footprint conserves yard space while its distinctive linear clerestory structure brings diffused natural light to the upper floor and creates a unique profile that stands like a "pensive figure" peering over the suburban fence.
